Mike goes after one of USA’s most iconic 70’s car: The AMC Pacer. But will it’s reputation as being an ugly duckling be lifted by Edd’s work? Or will it die faster than Disco?
SPOILER: It loses the duo A LOT of money.

It’s a good show but it pisses me off how they never include the cost of labour in the profit margins. If they paid for Ed’s time they’d be in the hole big time.

I think Mike and Edd split the profit which partially pays for the labor. That, to me, is part of the charm of the show. Edd, even though he has a workshop and all the tools, does this because he likes to, not because he has to.

So they have a US garage now? (Don't have cable so I only catch the show sometimes.)

Buying vinyl sheets and then removing 85% as ‘scrap’ when they could have covered another car by hand with the stuff: -1.
Space lamps: +1.
Have to see flocking in person or make some. I cold use some flocking dash beauty. null
And since it wasn’t mentioned, we can assume the door latch is still broken. +1.
Still can’t wrap my head around the idea of using good funds for plastic film to that extent. Weld an Jeep into there. Wait, wrong show.

if you did this yourself you wouldnt pay yourself every step of the way. restoring cars only pays when you sell the car. in short what your saying is really stupid unless you think of restoring a car as something you send out to a shop at which point you wont make any money doing something like that and should only send it out if you want to keep it when they are done

Well, maybe a basic mechanic labor estimate. Ed-rated is a bit over SAE. Presenter compensation is not on most restoration builds cost, for that matter. :)

They don’t count labour costs because each restoration is viewed as something you do yourself, rather than a shop.

Mike should have done one of the AMX’s that he found instead. Either way kind of a boring episode but those headlights were cool. I was a big fan of the 2002 tii they did an episode or two back

Newsflash: Edd doesn’t do all the work himself, but he does do a lot of it. I think the real objective to the show is demonstrate how one could buy a car low, fix it up, and sell it high. Or maybe keep it for yourself. BTW, I love the show and watch it constantly. I’m always mesmerized by some of the items Edd works on.

The days of some shade-tree mechanic fixing up a clunker is probably one of the biggest stumbling blocks of the show as of late. Notice that they have used tons of specialized equipment and focused on cars with hefty price tags.
